Niagara Falls is celebrating - again! Between November and February each year the annual Winter Festival of Lights (WFOL) puts on a spectacular display of more than 3 million lights and 75 installations. Approaching its 41st year, this free festival can be enjoyed by walking or driving along the five-mile festival route. Stretching along the Niagara Parkway from the Dufferin Islands to Clifton Hill, the light installations include larger-than-life moose, deer, bison, a menagerie of other wildlife, a gingerbread family, a light tunnel, nutcrackers, candy canes, a pathway of lights and many more. In addition to the twinkling lights, both the American and the Canadian Horseshoe Falls are illuminated by colored lights each evening. This over-the-top party's grand finale occurs when fireworks brighten the skies over the falls each weekend. If you are visiting in December, the festival offers free family entertainment at host sites. Free photographs with Santa are also available in December.
